Ohio AI laws: what's in force, and what's coming

Ohio's only enacted AI-specific requirement is in the FY2026-27 budget (HB 96), which required a state model policy on AI in schools and local district AI policies by July 1, 2026. Bills on AI-generated sexual images and replica identity fraud (SB 163, passed the Senate), election deepfakes (HB 362), AI personhood (HB 469) and a 'right to compute' (HB 392) were still pending in the 136th General Assembly as of October 2026.
