Georgia AI laws: what's in force, and what's coming
Georgia has no comprehensive AI statute; its 2026 session produced two targeted laws, one on conversational AI safety for minors (SB 540) and one barring health coverage denials based solely on AI (SB 444), both taking effect in 2027. Election deepfake and AI child sexual abuse material bills moved in 2025 but their final enactment could not be confirmed.

Georgia's AI laws
| Law | Citation | Status | Effective | What it covers |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Conversational AI / chatbot safety | SB 540 (2026) | Enacted, effective later | 1 Jul 2027 | Conversational AI must disclose it is AI, give minors parental controls, block sexual content and simulated romance with minors, and point users expressing suicidal thoughts to crisis resources. |
| No coverage decisions based solely on AI | SB 444 (2026) | Enacted, effective later | 1 Jan 2027 | Utilization review entities may use AI, but an AI system may not issue an adverse coverage determination until a qualified human person reviewing it has reviewed it (new O.C.G.A. 33-46-7.1). |
Optional evidence · where Planisphere fits
Keep a record anyone can check
When your team meets a duty, Planisphere can seal the event it reports as a receipt.
A disclosure shown, a review signed, a model change approved: the event your system reports.
The event becomes a sealed receipt, dated and attributed to whoever is signed in.
Paste the receipt into Verify. No account or key.
A record supports your compliance evidence process. It is not a legal finding or a certification. Systems that call Planisphere's gate API can also hold or refuse an action before it runs.
