Minnesota AI laws: what's in force, and what's coming

Minnesota has no comprehensive AI statute but has criminal election and sexual deepfake laws (2023), a 2026 ban on AI nudification tools, and a 2026 rule barring health insurers from denying care by automated processing alone. The nudification ban took effect Aug 1, 2026 but a federal appeals court paused its enforcement in early October 2026 while xAI's First Amendment challenge proceeds.
