Massachusetts AI laws: what's in force, and what's coming

Massachusetts has no comprehensive AI statute; its main AI-specific law is a 2024 act that criminalizes distributing sexual images made or altered by computer, and the Attorney General has advised that existing consumer protection and anti-discrimination laws apply to AI. Two House-passed bills on election deepfakes and AI disclosure in political ads stalled in the Senate in 2026, leaving the state without an election deepfake rule.
