Astrolabe · Capability declaration

Astrolabe — a measurement engine for federal AI assurance.

Astrolabe is Planisphere's measurement engine. It produces a sha-pinned, Merkle-rooted, NIST AI RMF-mapped attestation of any AI system's behavioral signature. Reproducible by any third party from the same inputs. Admissible under adversarial review.

§ 00.5 · Federation roadmap

Single-vendor attestation is a structural weakness for an integrity engine. The v1 cohort is intentionally 1 (Planisphere). The protocol is designed so that any independent recomputer with the same inputs produces the same root; a federation of N co-attestors makes the attestation chain strictly stronger.

v1 cohort (now)1 attestor — Planisphere
v2 cohort (target)Planisphere + one FFRDC + one UARC + one commercial recomputer · root signed by ≥ 2 of N before release
v3 cohort (target)≥ 5 attestors · SCITT-style transparent log of issued receipts · public verifiability of the federation membership set itself

What the instrument does.

Define · Score · Project · Compare

Define your subjects. Define your categories. Score once, compare forever — across runs, across operators, across domains.

The output is an artifact you can file and retrieve. Reproducible from the inputs and the pinned analysis code. The instrument carries its own proof.

The instrument carries its own proof. Recompute the root from the on-disk artifacts using only the published algorithm; obtain a bit-exact match.

Both bundles verify clean. The reproducibility property means any third party in possession of the same inputs and the pinned analysis code can recompute every byte and obtain a bit-exact match. Turn over the stone yourself — recompute any Astrolabe bundle's root in your browser, no network calls.

05 ·

Three pillars.

01 · Engine, not solution

Astrolabe is the underlying measurement layer vertical applications are built on. Other vendors' tools consume Astrolabe outputs.

02 · Comparability is the asset

The value is not the score. The value is that two scores from two contexts can be compared at all.

03 · Pluggable by design

Dynamic categories and pluggable input formats are not features. They are the product.
