What State Bar AI Opinions requires

Licensed lawyers and law firms using generative AI tools in practice.

  1. 01Understand the AI tool's capabilities and risks well enough to use it competently, including hallucination risk.
  2. 02Protect client confidential information; check the tool's data retention and training terms, and get informed consent when needed.
  3. 03Verify the accuracy of all AI-generated research and drafts before relying on them or filing them.
  4. 04Supervise lawyers and staff using AI, with firm policies, as with nonlawyer assistance.
  5. 05Bill only for time actually spent and reasonable actual AI costs; never bill for time the tool saved.

Optional evidence · where Planisphere fits

Keep a record anyone can check

When your team meets a duty, Planisphere can seal the event it reports as a receipt.

01 · Your teamRecord the event

A disclosure shown, a review signed, a model change approved: the event your system reports.

02 · PlanisphereSeal it

The event becomes a sealed receipt, dated and attributed to whoever is signed in.

03 · AnyoneCheck it

Paste the receipt into Verify. No account or key.

A record supports your compliance evidence process. It is not a legal finding or a certification. Systems that call Planisphere's gate API can also hold or refuse an action before it runs.
