South Dakota AI laws: what's in force, and what's coming
South Dakota's AI-specific laws are narrow criminal statutes: computer-generated child sexual abuse material (2024), unlabeled election deepfakes (2025) and nonconsensual sexual deepfakes (2026). Broader 2026 bills on chatbots for minors, chatbot disclosure, health-insurer AI, AI in therapy and an AI study task force did not pass.
