Rhode Island's AI laws
| Law | Status | What it covers |

| Oversight of AI Technology in Mental Health Care Act | In force | Bars AI from providing therapy or making therapeutic decisions, while allowing licensed clinicians to use AI for administrative and supplementary support; EOHHS may issue rules. |

In a legal AI workflow
Rhode Island has no comprehensive AI statute but has enacted targeted laws: a 2025 ban on deceptive synthetic media in election communications within 90 days of an election, and three 2026 laws on AI companion safety, AI in mental health care and notice of AI-assisted clinical documentation. Broader 2026 bills on insurers' use of AI, automated employment decisions, a state-agency AI inventory and AI watermarks did not pass both chambers.

Optional evidence · where Planisphere fits
Keep a record anyone can check
When your team meets a duty, Planisphere can seal the event it reports as a receipt.
A disclosure shown, a review signed, a model change approved: the event your system reports.
The event becomes a sealed receipt, dated and attributed to whoever is signed in.
Paste the receipt into Verify. No account or key.
A record supports your compliance evidence process. It is not a legal finding or a certification. Systems that call Planisphere's gate API can also hold or refuse an action before it runs.
