Indiana in defense AI workflows: what compliance requires, who asks for evidence, and the records to keep.
01 / State law
Indiana's AI laws
| Law | Status | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Fabricated (deepfake) media in election communications | In force | Requires disclaimers on campaign communications that include digitally altered or AI-fabricated media of a candidate and gives depicted candidates a civil remedy. |
| AI-generated intimate images | In force | Treats intimate images created or altered with AI or similar tools as intimate images for the crime of distribution and for civil nonconsensual pornography claims. |
| Artificial Intelligence Task Force; public-sector technology policies | In force | Creates a legislative AI Task Force to study AI use in state government and lets state agencies, local units and schools adopt technology resource and cybersecurity policies. |
| Payment of health claims (AI in downcoding and prior authorization) | In force | Bars insurers from using AI or other automated tools as the sole basis to downcode or submit claims without human review of the medical record, and requires disclosure of AI use in certain adverse decisions. |
| Indiana Consumer Data Protection Act (profiling opt-out) | In force | Gives consumers a right to opt out of profiling in solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects and requires data protection assessments for such processing. |

In a defense AI workflow
Indiana has no comprehensive AI statute; its AI-specific laws cover election deepfakes and AI-generated intimate images (2024), an AI task force (2024), and, from July 2026, limits on insurers relying solely on AI to downcode or process health claims. State agencies follow an enterprise AI policy from the Office of the Chief Data Officer, based on the NIST AI Risk Management Framework.

Optional evidence · where Planisphere fits
Keep a record anyone can check
When your team meets a duty, Planisphere can seal the event it reports as a receipt.
A disclosure shown, a review signed, a model change approved: the event your system reports.
The event becomes a sealed receipt, dated and attributed to whoever is signed in.
Paste the receipt into Verify. No account or key.
A record supports your compliance evidence process. It is not a legal finding or a certification. Systems that call Planisphere's gate API can also hold or refuse an action before it runs.
