FedRAMP for clinical AI workflows
FedRAMP in clinical AI workflows: what compliance requires, who asks for evidence, and the records to keep.
01 / The rule
What FedRAMP requires
Federal agencies using cloud services, and cloud service providers (including AI SaaS providers) that host federal information.
- 01Cloud providers must obtain FedRAMP certification at the class or impact level matching the agency data.
- 02Implement and evidence the required controls, or the 20x key security indicators, and pass independent assessment.
- 03Perform continuous monitoring and report vulnerabilities and changes to FedRAMP and agencies.
- 04Agencies must reuse existing FedRAMP assessments where practicable and still issue their own ATO.
- 05From January 1, 2027, follow the Consolidated Rules for 2026 to keep certification.
02 / In this sector
In a clinical AI workflow
AI cloud services used by agencies need FedRAMP coverage; FedRAMP's 2025 AI Prioritization Initiative fast-tracked OpenAI, Google and Perplexity services, which were certified in early 2026, with a criterion that training on customer data stays in the customer environment.
Clinical committees and health system AI governance.
HHS §1557 · HIPAA · FDA PCCP.
03 / Records
Records to keep
- 01FedRAMP Marketplace listing and certification letter
- 02System security plan or 20x machine-readable package
- 03Independent assessment report
- 04Monthly continuous monitoring deliverables
Optional evidence · where Planisphere fits
Keep a record anyone can check
When your team meets a duty, Planisphere can seal the event it reports as a receipt.
A disclosure shown, a review signed, a model change approved: the event your system reports.
The event becomes a sealed receipt, dated and attributed to whoever is signed in.
Paste the receipt into Verify. No account or key.
A record supports your compliance evidence process. It is not a legal finding or a certification. Systems that call Planisphere's gate API can also hold or refuse an action before it runs.
