Election deepfakes (materially deceptive media)	In force	Bars distributing AI-made materially deceptive media of a candidate within 90 days of an election to influence it, unless it carries a manipulation disclaimer.
AI in health coverage decisions	In force	Health benefit plan providers may not use AI as the sole basis for an adverse coverage decision; a qualified clinician must decide, with annual certification to the Department of Insurance.
Altered private images	In force	Makes it a crime to create or alter a private intimate image without consent, including AI-generated images of an identifiable person.
AI-generated child sexual abuse material	In force	Extends child sexual abuse material offenses to digitally created or altered depictions.

In a defense AI workflow

Alabama has no comprehensive AI statute; its AI rules cover election deepfakes, AI-generated intimate and child sexual images, and, since October 1, 2026, AI use in health insurance coverage decisions. State-government AI use is shaped by a 2024 executive order and task force rather than by statute.
